Purwal Porwal Samaj History
Our History

The process of uniting the society started from 1918. Thinkers started the work of public awareness through correspondence and by publishing some leaflets. The first session was called on 01 September 1924 and the first executive of the General Assembly was formed under the chairmanship of Shri Kanhaiya Lal Ji Kalpi. In the first session, the name of the Mahasabha was kept as "Akhil Bharatvarshiya Kharaunva Purwar Vaishya Mahasabha".

In the meeting of the National Executive of Auraiya Mahasabha on 12th November 2000, the word Porwal was added to the name of the Mahasabha and declared as All India Purwar-Porwal Mahasabha. This was recognized by the public in the election general meeting in 2003.

The Purwaal Porwal community is one of the ancient Indian communities known by the name "Purwaal." They are also referred to as "Porwal." Historically, Porwals are considered among the prominent merchant classes of India.

This community derives its name from the town of Pali, near Marwar, Rajasthan. Members of the community who migrated from this region were called "Paliwal." However, over time, the name evolved to "Porwal" or "Purwaal."

The Purwaal Porwal community is highly distinguished for its qualities such as intelligence, compassion, and charity. Many notable personalities in history have emerged from this community, contributing to various fields such as business, education, and social welfare.

The Porwal community includes numerous subgroups across different regions. Some of these groups are:

Agarwal, Jain, Khandelwal, Maheshwari, Oswal, Shrimal, and others. They have distinct community associations in cities such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Lucknow, Surat, Indore, and many more.

The Lakshman Mangal of the Purwaal Porwal Samaj was established with the vision of fostering unity and addressing the needs of the community members.

In the years 1974–75, a major milestone was achieved when the Purwaal Porwal Samaj initiated efforts to enhance social harmony among its members.

Major Contributions:

Strengthening social connections among the community. Establishing a framework for social and cultural initiatives that benefit all members.

The Purwaal Porwal Samaj, Lakshman Mangal continues to serve as an important institution, promoting the heritage and welfare of the community. The organization has been led by several key figures, such as Shri Ram Mohan Gupta, who served as the first president and laid the foundation of the Mangal.

Subsequent leaders, including Shri Vimal Kumar Jain and Dr. C. K. Porwal, have further strengthened the community through their leadership. In 2023, under the leadership of Dr. C. K. Porwal, the community saw new initiatives aimed at advancing its mission and objectives.
